The Rise of Cancer Incidence – What is the Cause?
Some of my most meaningful work involved helping establish a successful cancer screening business in the UK workplace health market.
Since then, the number and scope of private cancer propositions has grown considerably; not just screening but also post diagnosis care and rehabilitation.
If your employer has bought into these services, there has never been a higher level of such support available.
It is much needed. With the recent unprecedented rise in cancer incidence, particularly in younger people, and the disturbing modelling for even greater numbers in the future, it will be needed even more.
This being the case, why do we seem to hear so little about research into identifying the causes?
Regularly, people in the cancer sector (now a market in its own right?) publish alarming statistics without providing insight as to what lies behind them. Almost as if they are an inevitability, part and parcel of modern life.
Well-established lifestyle causes do not now have the same influence on younger people as seen in a recent study by The Institute of Cancer Research and Imperial College London.
It analysed patterns in behaviours already known to increase the risk of cancer. This showed smoking levels, alcohol consumption, levels of physical exercise, the amount of red and processed meat and the number of diets low in fibre were all either getting better or staying the same.
So what could be causing it?
There is a growing suggestion that ingesting micro-plastics plays a role. That might well be so, based on a build up over time; but how many micro-plastics would you have to guzzle to produce a 36% (Unum) or a 90% (Aviva) rise in incidence in just one year?
Such dramatic, rapid and currently unexplainable rises warrant much greater investigation.
Due to the timing correlation and the huge numbers involved, this must include Covid Vaccinations being systematically assessed for carcinogenicity.
The authors of this paper make powerful arguments for doing so.
They say in their conclusion, ‘The collective world-wide evidence from 2020–2025 underscores a biologically plausible connection between COVID-19 vaccination and cancer. The recurring clinical findings documented across many reports of de-novo cancer onset, rapid tumor progression, viral reactivation, and reawakening of dormant disease, highlight critical gaps in knowledge and understanding of how large-scale immune changes produced by the vaccine interacts with cancer biology.’
‘The scientific imperative moving forward should be a coordinated framework combining longitudinal surveillance and mechanistic experimentation to allow us to distinguish coincidence from causality and to refine future vaccine platforms accordingly. In doing so, we stand to gain not only a clearer understanding of vaccine safety, but also a deeper insight into the fundamental links between immunity, infection, and cancer emergence.’
