In 2023, for the first time, there were more people of working age caring for adult dependents than there were caring for child dependents.

Millions of employees are now juggling full-time jobs while also caring for ageing parents, sick partners, or disabled family members.

These caring responsibilities can bring a real emotional and mental health toll; so much so that 87% of caregivers report experiencing depression.

At the Cover Protection event earlier this week, I met Stephanie Leung, Founder and CEO of KareHero who are on a mission to help businesses become carer inclusive.  They provide a fully comprehensive adult care support as an employee benefit solution to help  employees understand, find, and fund care for their adult loved ones.

There is clearly a growing need for this type of service and I was quite moved by this video that was played during the conference. In fact, a number of attendees were seen with a tear in their eye as they related it to their own lived experience.
