Hats off to Investors in People for adding a Health and Wellbeing award to their offering. Investing in health and wellbeing does not mean having to buy or pay for something but it certainly does mean investing in people. The two go hand in hand. If you get a chance, register to use their self check tool. It asks some great questions that many organisations have avoided or been unable to answer in the positive. Questions such as:
‘Do you have a clear understanding of what health and wellbeing means in your organisation which you have shared with your staff?’
‘Do you have a number of initiatives but not really assessed what your staff need around health and wellbeing?’
I could go on, but I’m really rather impressed with their approach. They’ve even taken the annoying hyphen out of wellbeing!
I’m not saying they have the answers to everything but they appear to be asking the right questions of organisations to get them to think with greater clarity as to what an effective health and wellbeing strategy should look like and more importantly, what it should actually achieve.
