I met The YOU Company at a healthcare event yesterday and found their proposition very interesting. It is an online wellness management system that gives users approved biometric devices so that they can assess and measure key health metrics without having to see a clinician. You can use the biometric kit anytime, anywhere, which for me is one of the main benefits. Here’s what you get:
- Blood Pressure Monitor
- BMI and Body Fat Percentage Measuring Tools
- Urine Dipsticks
- Pedometer
- Subscription to an interactive web portal which provides personalised trending and lifestyle advice
I think it is a great and relatively inexpensive way for people to assess and then monitor key health indicators, giving them the ability to see what impact a life style change can make without having to go to a pharmacist, wait for such tests on the NHS or make an appointment with occupational health. It does signpost users to a clinician when the tests results suggest a need to do so.
This could have a wide appeal to employers who can collect the summary data on a confidential basis allowing them to determine where and how they should target their healthcare spend. It’s a step up from purely online health assessments and I think many people would appreciate the opportunity to take the tests privately at a time that suited them.
I’m told that a large telecom has already bought into it and I’m going to monitor The YOU Company’s progres with interest.
